Packing list for Delhi, Agra and Jaipur
North India's Golden Triangle from October to March: 45°F (7°C) mornings and 77°F (25°C) afternoons, shoes that come off at every temple and the Taj, a mask for the smog from late October, and a bag that stays closed in the bazaar.
On a phone with Waystop installed, the button adds the list to your trip as a bag you can tick off. Otherwise copy it and paste it into Waystop’s Chat with “add this to my packing list”.

October still touches 91°F (33°C) by day and 64°F (18°C) at night; by January the highs are around 68°F (20°C) and mornings 45°F (7°C), with fog in Delhi that can delay trains and flights in December and January. March climbs back to 86°F (30°C). Rain is rare all season, but the air quality from late October to January matters more than the rain.
- Shorts and vest topsTemples and mosques turn away bare knees and shoulders, and loose pants do the same job in the heat.
- Lace-up bootsYou will take your shoes off ten times a day. Slip-ons with socks are faster, and temple floors are swept clean.
- Jewelry you would missCrowds and open rickshaws make it a target, and it is one less thing to keep track of.
- A cotton kurta or dupattaFabindia and the Jaipur bazaars sell temple-ready clothes for the price of a coffee at home, and they are cooler than anything you packed
- Oral rehydration sachets (ORS) and basic medicinesEvery pharmacy stocks them for a few rupees; buy the stomach kit refill the first day, before you need it
- A local SIM or eSIMAirtel and Jio counters at Delhi airport set it up with your passport and e-visa; data is among the cheapest in the world and rides, maps and UPI all need it
Worth knowing
- The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays and opens at sunrise the other six days; the foreign ticket is around ₹1,300 with the mausoleum, and food, tripods and drones are not allowed inside.
- Pack for the day, not the season: a 45°F (7°C) sunrise at the Taj becomes a 77°F (25°C) afternoon at Agra Fort, so the fleece goes in the bag by 10 a.m.
- Waystop's hours check will flag a Friday Taj or a Monday museum; Delhi's National Museum and most galleries close on Mondays.
