What Waystop keeps, where it goes, and how to delete it.
Waystop is made by Coexist Media LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("we"). Waystop is a trip planner. To plan a trip it needs your itinerary, your messages to Chat, and the things you import. This page says plainly what that involves. The same explanation is shown inside the app before your first message, under “How Chat works”.
What we collect
| Data | Where it comes from | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account: email address, a display name if your sign-in provider supplies one, and a user id | Sign in with Apple, Google or email | To keep your trips under your account and to send account emails such as verification |
| Trips: destinations, dates, stops, notes, travellers you add, and who you share a trip with | You, your imports, and changes you apply from Chat | This is the product |
| Chat messages and the answers to them | You | To answer you and keep the conversation history for each trip |
| Imports: pasted text, screenshots, PDFs and booking documents | You | To turn them into a timeline |
| Photos you send in Chat | You | To read menus, signs and tickets. Stored in your private uploads folder |
| Location | Your phone, only for messages you mark “near me” | To find places around you. It is not tracked in the background |
| Emergency and medical profile | You, optionally | Shown only on the medical handoff card you choose to display |
| Purchases: the credit you bought and your balance, and any Trip Pass or Yearly plan from before credit was introduced | Apple App Store or Google Play, via RevenueCat | To give you what you paid for. We never see your card |
| Usage events such as which screens are opened and whether a proposal was applied | The app, via Firebase Analytics | To see what works and what does not |
| Reports you send about an answer | You, by long-pressing an answer | Moderation of AI-generated content |
| Feedback you send from the Share feedback screen, with the app version | You | To read it and, if you said we may, write back |
| Crash reports: the app and OS versions, the device model and what the app was doing when it failed | The app, via Firebase Crashlytics | To find and fix crashes. They carry no trip content |
Who processes it
Waystop runs on Google Cloud. Your account, trips, messages and photos are stored in Firebase in the United States.
- Google Gemini API. When you chat, import an itinerary, or send a photo, that content and your itinerary are sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate the answer. Google processes this data under its API terms. Waystop does not use your messages to train models and does not sell them.
- Google Maps Platform. Place lookups, opening hours, and travel times go to Google Maps. Directions open in the Google Maps app.
- Firebase (Google) for sign-in, the database, photo storage, analytics, crash reports and app integrity checks.
- RevenueCat for purchases and pass status. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google, or by RevenueCat’s web checkout for purchases on waystop.app.
- Apple and Google for push notifications and reminders on your device.
We do not sell personal data, do not show advertising inside the app, and do not share your data with advertisers.
Booking and shopping links
Some place cards and packing suggestions carry links to booking sites or shops. If you tap one, that site and its affiliate network may set cookies and may pay Waystop a commission. Those links are chosen for a place you already picked. They never influence what Chat suggests, and no data about you is sent to the merchant until you tap.
Answers can be wrong
Answers are generated. Opening hours and travel times are checked against Google Maps but can still change. Confirm anything that matters with the venue. You can report an answer by long-pressing it in the app.
Sharing a trip
If you invite someone to a trip, they see the trip and its chat history for that trip. If you create a public share link, anyone with the link can view the itinerary until you revoke it. Your emergency profile is never part of a shared trip.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. Deleting your account from the Profile tab removes your account, trips, messages and photos from our systems. Trips you own and shared disappear for the other members too; trips other people shared with you stay with them. Purchase records stay with Apple, Google and RevenueCat under their policies. Reports may be kept in anonymised form for moderation.
Children
Waystop is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Delete your account and data at any time from Profile in the app.
- Turn reminders and the lock-screen activity off in Profile.
- Location is only ever sent with a “near me” message; deny the permission and that option is simply unavailable.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or for a correction, by email. If you are in the EU, UK, California or another place with a privacy law, the rights that law gives you apply and you can exercise them the same way.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you before the change takes effect. The date at the top is the version you are reading.
