Packing list for a couple's city weekend
Paris, Venice, Lisbon or Florence for two to four nights with one bag between you: a single toiletry kit, a dinner outfit each that also works by day, one two-port charger, and the one booking that has a dress code.
On a phone with Waystop installed, the button adds the list to your trip as a bag you can tick off. Otherwise copy it and paste it into Waystop’s Chat with “add this to my packing list”.

0/3What the weather is like
Depends on the city and the month: Paris around 77°F (25°C) in July and 45°F (7°C) in January; Venice humid at about 82°F (28°C) in summer with fog and high water in November; Lisbon around 82°F (28°C) in August with a wind off the Atlantic; Florence above 90°F (32°C) in July and often colder than Rome in winter. Pack for the evening, which runs 15 to 18°F below the afternoon.
- A second bagYou share one bag. A second bag means two sets of hands, two lines at the airport and double the stairs.
- A hairdryer and a travel ironEvery hotel in these four cities has a dryer, and a shirt hung in a steamy bathroom loses its creases
- Delicate shoesCobbles in Lisbon and the bridges of Venice ruin them in a day; one dark pair of good walking shoes passes at dinner
- Pastries on the first morningA pastel de nata from the bakery under the hotel or a tarte from the corner boulangerie beats the hotel breakfast and costs a fraction
- Any toiletry you forgot, from a pharmacyEvery corner has a green cross, the staff speak English and the sizes are travel sizes
- The gift, on the last dayBuy it when you know what the bag has room for, not on the first afternoon
Worth knowing
- Split the bag by zone, not by person: your things on the left, theirs on the right, the shared kit in the top pocket. Security checks and hotel rooms with no luggage rack go faster.
- Book the one nice dinner for the second night, not the first: the first evening is late and tired, and the 8:30 p.m. table on day two is the one you remember. France and Italy eat late; 7 p.m. is the empty room.
- Churches in Italy enforce covered shoulders and knees, and a few restaurants in Paris and Florence still expect a jacket or at least no sneakers. A scarf covers shoulders and pants or a skirt cover knees; one jacket between you covers the restaurants.
Trips to pack this for
Never leave the charger in the hotel again.
Waystop keeps a list for each bag and each person. On the morning you change hotels it walks you through a quick pack-up check, and Chat can suggest items to add when you ask what to bring.
