The Last Supper. Fifteen minutes, 40 people at a time, Tuesday to Sunday 8:15 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are about €15 and sell only through cenacolovinciano.vivaticket.it, released a quarter at a time at noon on an announced date; the September to December 2026 batch went on sale on June 23. Every Wednesday at noon a few tickets for the following week appear on the same site, five per order. Anyone else selling a standalone ticket is a reseller; the legitimate alternative is a guided tour with its own allocation at two or three times the price.

The Duomo roof. Buy a timed combined ticket: €22 by the stairs (around 250 steps) or €26 by the elevator, both including the cathedral and the Duomo Museum. Roof-only by the stairs is €16 and the €15 Culture Pass covers everything but the roof. Shoulders and knees covered inside the cathedral and hats off; it is enforced at the door.

The metro. Tap a contactless card or phone at the gate going in and again going out: €2.20 a ride, capped at €7.60 a day, one card per person. On trams and buses tap once as you board. Paper tickets stopped being sold or accepted on January 1, 2026; a three-day ticket in the ATM app is €15.50.

The airports. From Malpensa the Malpensa Express runs every 15 minutes, 37 minutes to Cadorna or 51 to Centrale, €15 single and €25 round trip. The buses to Centrale take about an hour for around €10 and a taxi is a fixed €110. From Linate the M4 metro reaches San Babila in about 15 minutes on the ordinary fare.

Aperitivo. From 6 p.m. to about 9 p.m. a drink of €10 to €15 buys a plate or a buffet; order at the bar and eat what comes; dinner is from 8 p.m. The Navigli canals, two M2 stops from the castle at Porta Genova, are the place for it.

Closed days. Monday closes The Last Supper, the Pinacoteca di Brera, the castle museums and the science museum; the Duomo and La Scala’s museum open every day. Wednesday closes the Duomo Museum.

The weeks to avoid. Women’s fashion week is September 22 to 28, 2026 and February 23 to March 1, 2027, men’s January 15 to 19, 2027, and the Salone del Mobile is April 13 to 18, 2027. Hotel prices can triple. Mid-August is the opposite problem: half the city shuts around the 15th.

On the day. Save the Vivaticket and Duomo QR codes in Waystop’s Documents and be at the Cenacolo 20 minutes before your slot; a missed slot is gone.

Questions

How far ahead do I need The Last Supper?

Book as soon as the next batch opens, because weekends go within days. If you missed it, a few extra tickets appear every Wednesday at noon for the following week; otherwise a guided tour bundles a slot at two or three times the price.

Stairs or elevator to the Duomo roof?

The stairs are around 250 steps and the combined ticket is €22; the elevator is €26 and you usually walk down anyway. Both include the cathedral and the Duomo Museum, which is closed on Wednesday.

Malpensa or Linate?

Linate if you can choose; the M4 metro reaches San Babila in about 15 minutes for the ordinary €2.20 fare. From Malpensa the Malpensa Express is €15 and takes 37 minutes to Cadorna or 51 to Centrale.
