Packing list for a wedding abroad
Florence, Lisbon, Cancún or Bali as a wedding guest: the outfit in a garment bag that never gets checked, a steamer for the hotel room, shoes that survive grass or sand, the gift as money in a card, and an extra day in case the bag does not arrive.
On a phone with Waystop installed, the button adds the list to your trip as a bag you can tick off. Otherwise copy it and paste it into Waystop’s Chat with “add this to my packing list”.

Pack for your venue: Florence in June around 86°F (30°C) by day and cool enough for a jacket after dark; Lisbon in September around 81°F (27°C) with wind; Cancún in the dry season 82 to 90°F (28 to 32°C) with the sea at 79°F (26°C), and hurricane season from June 1 to November 30; Bali about 86°F (30°C) all year with the wet season from November to March. An outdoor ceremony finishes well below the afternoon figure.
- A boxed giftIt takes space in your bag and theirs; money in a card or a transfer to the registry does the same job
- The spare heelsOne pair that handles the aisle and the dance floor; the second pair never leaves the bag
- A full-size steamer or an ironA handheld steamer fits in a shoe pocket; the hotel has an iron if you must
- Flowers or a bottle for the couple's parentsCheaper and fresher from a market that morning, and the florist near the venue knows the venue.
- Local cash for the gift cardWithdraw euros, pesos or rupiah at an ATM on arrival, since cash in the local currency is what a couple abroad can use.
- A change of clothes if the bag is lateA plain shirt and pants from a chain store cover the welcome dinner while the airline finds your bag. Keep the receipt for the insurance claim.
Worth knowing
- Never check the outfit. If the airline insists the garment bag counts as your cabin bag, let it; the shoes and toiletries go in the hold and the suit stays with you.
- Mute the group chat and ask the couple for one shared itinerary with pickup times and venue pins. If there is none, add the guests as travelers in Waystop and build one; the question in the chat is always what time the shuttle leaves.
- Steam the outfit the night before, hang it in the bathroom and do not wear it to breakfast. Book the extra night at the start of the trip, not the end; the end is the hangover.
- Book an extra night before the wedding. A delayed bag arrives in a day or two and a delayed flight loses a day, and the spare night turns both into an inconvenience.
Trips to pack this for
Never leave the charger in the hotel again.
Waystop keeps a list for each bag and each person. On the morning you change hotels it walks you through a quick pack-up check, and Chat can suggest items to add when you ask what to bring.
